How the Roleplay Generator Works

A roleplay scenario needs three things: a role for you, a relationship with someone else, and a reason things can't stay as they are. The generator builds each scenario from those parts — who you are, who you meet, the tension between you — then adds where the scene starts and the first thing the other character says. With eleven settings and four tones, it can produce 506,880 different scenarios.

Every setting is one of the worlds in Mythx, and every world starts the same way: you arrive as the newcomer in a place where everyone already knows everyone. That's why each scenario casts you as someone new — it's exactly where a Mythx story begins.

The four tones

  • Cozy: favors, festivals and small kindnesses between neighbors
  • Romantic: slow-burn attention, near-misses and things left unsaid
  • Mysterious: secrets about the place, and people who know more than they say
  • Dramatic: rivals, debts, lies and sides to choose

Tips for playing a scenario

  • Answer the opening line in character — the first reply sets your voice
  • Don't explain the tension away; lean into it and let the other character push back
  • Say what you do, not just what you say: walk somewhere, pick something up, leave
  • If a scenario feels flat, change one part — a different person or place changes everything
