Open Mic at Hartwell

A startled transfer student stands by the open-mic stage of a Hartwell coffee house while Sloane Whitaker taps a clipboard

Hartwell in October: red brick, falling leaves, and a coffee-house open mic you never signed up for. Sloane Whitaker, who chairs the events committee, taps your name on her clipboard. "Transfer students go first, Zoe," she says. "It's tradition. I made it one about a minute ago."

What do you do?

Mythx writes every story live as you play, so yours will go its own way.

One story, four scenes

A Story Generator That Draws as It Writes

An example story in Solenne: one afternoon of typing, four illustrated scenes. Aria keeps her face from the first page to the last, and Ines remembers her by nightfall.

  1. Aria, in a blue academy coat, meets Ines Calder in the dueling yard of the Imperial Academy at Solenne

    Scene 1 · Morning

    You press Generate

Aria arrives a week late with a rank the Academy has no record of. Ines Calder is waiting in the yard.

  2. Aria leans over a bubbling blue flask in the academy library while Lira Vance holds it with tongs and laughs

    Scene 2 · Noon

You type: Ask Lira what's in the flask

Lira Vance, second-year alchemist, laughs and tilts the flask toward the light. "Nothing that will explode. Probably."

  3. Aria raises a wand tipped with silver light against Kael Ashgrave in a stone dueling ring at dusk

    Scene 3 · Dusk

You type: Challenge Kael to a duel

The yard goes quiet. Kael Ashgrave, top of the dueling ranks, lowers his wand and looks at her properly for the first time.

  4. Aria and Ines Calder share tea by a reflecting pool in the academy moon garden at night

    Scene 4 · Night

You type: Find Ines in the moon garden

Ines saved her a cup of tea and the best seat by the pool. "So," she says. "Everyone is talking about you."

Example scenes, drawn by Mythx in Solenne's art style. Free play illustrates your first scenes; Premium illustrates up to 100 scenes a day.

How it works

How the AI Story Generator Works

Three steps from this page to the first illustrated scene of your story.

  1. 1.Pick a story and a main character

Choose the kind of story you want, from a fantasy tavern to a Japanese academy, and who you will be in it. Every story type is a world with its own people, places and art style.

  2. 2.Press Generate

Mythx opens your story with an illustrated first scene. Each new scene is written live, and the people in it stay themselves: the same faces, voices and memories of you.

  3. 3.Steer it by typing

Type what you do or say, in plain words, and the story answers. Or let the narrator carry the scene forward. There is no plot to write and no prompt to engineer.

Story generator vs. story game

A Story You Generate by Living It

Most AI story makers write a whole story from one prompt. Mythx writes it one scene at a time, around what you do, and illustrates it.

Questions

Story Generator FAQ

Is the AI story generator free?

Does the story generator make pictures?

Yes. Mythx draws scenes of your story as it writes them, in the art style of the world you picked, and the characters keep the same faces from picture to picture. Free play illustrates your first scenes; Premium illustrates up to 100 scenes a day.

Can I type my own story idea?

Fantasy adventure, magic academy, school and college romance, Victorian London, village mystery, the Wild West, a harbor town in the age of sail, life after the end of the world and more: 13 worlds in all.

Do I need to download anything?

No. The story generator runs in your browser on a computer or a phone. There are also apps for iOS and Android if you prefer them.

Can I keep my story?

You can play without an account. Sign in with Google to keep your story for good, to play it on another device, or to buy Premium. A story played without an account is deleted after 24 hours of inactivity.
