The Choose Your Own Adventure Game Where You Write the Choices
Mythx is an AI choose your own adventure. A CYOA book stops every few pages and offers two or three options. Here you type whatever you would do, and the AI writes what happens next, plays everyone you meet and illustrates your first scenes. No sign-up, no download.

An AI Choose Your Own Adventure, With No Page Limit
The classic books are children's gamebooks written in the second person: they stop every few pages with two or three options. Bantam published 184 of them between 1979 and 1998 and sold more than 250 million copies (Wikipedia). Every branch was written in advance, so the choices were the ones the author thought of.
Mythx keeps the second person and drops the list. You write your own choice, and the AI plays it out: the villager answers, the guard notices, the day moves on. When you would rather pick than type, some scenes offer a few suggested moves you can tap.

How it works
How to Play a CYOA Game Online
Three choices from this page to your first scene.
- 1
Choose a world
Thirteen hand-built worlds, from a fantasy village to Victorian London and the Wild West. Each has its own people, places and art style.
- 2
Choose who you are
Play a ready-made character, or design your hero's look in the hero designer. You arrive as the newcomer, so the story starts with you.
- 3
Choose what happens
Write your move in plain words: talk, act, travel, take a job. The AI narrates the result and plays everyone else. Your first scenes come illustrated.
Choose Your Own Adventure for Adults
The books were written for children. Several Mythx worlds are built around grown-up lives instead: a semester at Hartwell, the college campus; a job in Victorian London; a night out in the Roaring Twenties; or getting by in the world after the end. Mythx is filtered and has no mature setting, so “for adults” here means older characters and more complicated choices, not explicit content.
Want to Write Your Own CYOA Story?
Mythx lets you make your own adventure by playing it, not by writing branches for other readers. To write a branching story, Twine is a free, open-source tool for interactive, nonlinear stories that publishes to HTML. For the story itself, roll a premise with the plot generator, borrow one of the 100 story ideas with a twist, or start from the 200 writing prompts.

Questions
Choose Your Own Adventure FAQ
Is this choose your own adventure game free?
Yes. It is free to start in your browser with no sign-up. Free play includes 10 scenes a day, and your first scenes come illustrated; after that, free scenes continue in text. Premium ($4.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year) adds unlimited story and up to 100 illustrated scenes a day.
How is an AI choose your own adventure different from a CYOA book?
A book gives you two or three written options every few pages, and every path leads to one of a fixed set of endings. In Mythx you type what you want to do, or tap a suggested move, and the AI writes what happens next, so there is no list of choices to run out of and no fixed ending.
How many endings are there?
None are written in advance. Your story keeps going for as long as you play, and the people in your world remember what you did. You can start a new life whenever you want a fresh story.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Mythx runs in the browser on a phone or computer, and there are apps for iOS and Android.
Is there a choose your own adventure for adults?
Several worlds are built around grown-up lives, like a college campus, Victorian London and the 1920s. Mythx is filtered and has no mature setting, so the stories are older, not explicit. Players must be 13 or older, with a parent’s or guardian’s consent for minors.
Can I make my own choose your own adventure story?
Not inside Mythx: every story takes place in one of the 13 hand-built worlds, and you write your part by playing. To write a branching story for other people to read, Twine is a free, open-source tool made for it.
Is Mythx part of the Choose Your Own Adventure book series?
No. Choose Your Own Adventure is a trademark of Chooseco LLC, which publishes the books. Mythx is a separate AI story game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Chooseco.
